From Bremen to the rest of the world: established in 1806 as a trading and sailing vessel shipping company in the Hanseatic city on the Weser, the company, Melchers, quickly became a “global player”.
Although the focus of the Pacific economic area was on North America, Mexico and Cuba until the mid-19th century, the company's success story in Asia – which continues to this day – began in 1866 with the establishment of a branch in Hong Kong. Today there are 25 Melchers branches and agencies in total, with over 800 employees in Asia and many other regions of the world.
Melchers GmbH & Co. KG is able to look back on a long, eventful and successful company history. Despite all the changes, setbacks and external circumstances, the cornerstones of the company have never been shaken: Melchers still remains a private, owner-managed company, which operates around the world, offering a broad spectrum of services and trading expertise in the wide-ranging business areas. More than 200 years of experience coupled with over 150 years of expertise in Asia and a well-organised, global network enable us time and again to tailor our business individually and flexibly to international markets and customers.
